None, there is no cost for the Young Eagle flights. The pilots and ground crew volunteer their time and cost to give your child a flight that we hope will inspire them to fall in love with aviation.
If selected for this scholarship, you and your child will need to attend potential zoom meetings prior to the flight date. The goal of these zoom meetings is to ensure that you and your child have a basic understanding and workings of a plane, and understand the proceedings of flight day. These meetings will be no longer than 1 1/2-2 hours.
You will need to submit only one application for each child. If you have multiple children you are able to submit more than one application, but there is no guarantee that both children will receive the scholarship.
If unforeseen weather arises there will be a rain date within 1-2 weeks following the originally scheduled date. All parties will be notified of a cancellation no later than 3 hours before the flight.
If you receive the free introductory flight as well as the $250 scholarship, it must be used to continue flight training. We will work with you and your child to find the best program to continue your flight training with, and continue to guide all our young aviators to continue aviation after the introductory flight.
Yes, High AIming Women In Aviation plans to continue these scholarships. Future dates are to be determined but we also plan to have more located across New Jersey become available to aviators across the state.
