Our Founder

Hello, I am the founder of High Aiming Women In Aviation, Ashlyn N. Warker. I'm currently serving as Miss Southern Gardens' Teen 2024. My goal after high school is to attend the United States Air Force Academy and earn my wings becoming an F-16 pilot., though the journey to becoming a pilot has not always been easy or accessible. At the age of thirteen I took my first introductory flight above New Jersey. There I witnessed the beauty of a world above the world I knew. From there I could see from city to shore, and in that moment I fell in love with aviation, and breaking the sky's limits. It was after this flight when I struggled to find an affordable, local program for aspiring young women aviators like myself. Most estimates for flight training costed over $300 for 1-2 hours of flight training, in total to receive my private pilots license it would cost at least $20,000. Unfortunately, this was unachievable financially, and I had to put my passion on pause. I have been fortunate enough to be apart of Air Force Junior ROTC, which provides four free CAP flights to all Cadets. This allowed me to train more on our flight simulator and it helped me to get more flight time. But this alone still didn't allow me to fully pursue aviation, and not all young girls have the interest or the resources to be in Junior ROTC. That's why I felt it was important to create an opportunity that didn't only ignite a young women's aspirations for aviation but helped them to continue their flight training after their introductory flight with decreased costs and scholarships. It is important for their to be an accessible community amongst young women, so they can have an outlet to be who they are and pursue what they want to be.
